Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
nothing's going to get better.
It's not.
I love snow. Like, seriously love snow. Maybe it has something to do with being a December baby. Or maybe it's just because snow is awesome. And maybe it's because when we get a really good snowfall my momma makes amazing snow sculptures. (my all-time favorite is her Yoda) This year she made an awesome Lorax. Totally appropriate for several reasons: 1) My momma & Dr. Seuss share a birthday, 2) We love the new Lorax full length movie, & 3) Every big snowfall we also make sure we knock as much snow off the trees as we can so they don't break...like the Lorax, we 'speak for the trees.'
On to my progress for the month. As I posted in my last blog I got the candles in the mail and found out that I would have to dip color all of the green candles. Thankfully they sent enough white candles for me use for the dip coloring. I could dip color over another shade but this way they won't burn funky, assuming people are actually going to burn these candles...
Anyway, my first attempt was to dip the candle into the candle maker (top right) but the wax was too hot in there so I poured it into a solo cup to let it cool enough that it wouldn't melt the white wax. After the first dip I clipped them up to a string (bottom left) I rigged up. Of course I could only find eight binder clips so that made progress slow which meant I didn't have time to dip them again before the wax in the cup got too cool. It was honestly a little frustrating until I realized (after about 30 candles) that the wax cooled a lot quicker after dipping than I thought. I took a chance and laid the next dipped candle straight onto the table, success! Once I figured that out the rest of the candles went really quickly.
Originally I was going to dip color some red, blue, & yellow candles as well to get the total number of each color to 100 but since I've got at least 80 of each color I'm gonna just stick with that number.

With the green candles finished I moved on to the cards for the photo booth. Each person who gets a photo taken will write their names and contact email so we can identify the photos and send them copies. I'm really excited about the photo booth. Jamie Kay Photography is flat out amazing and we've got some really fun props...boas, a quill, & oversized faux copy of Tam's book. For the cards I used the same red feather as the one for the tote bags. Even though they didn't really need to be decorated I think it's kinda fun to keep the theme going with little touches here and there.
Tomorrow I'm going to start working on the DVD slideshow.
